1959: A Very Warm Year
Because of the Cuban Revolution, Iraq leaving the Baghdad Pact, the first American soldiers to die in the Vietnam War, the Kitchen Debate, and Khrushchev being denied a to visit Disneyland, 1959 was a very warm year. There was rebellion, violence, rivalry, and overall negativity. It all contributed to the theme of political hostility of the Cold War. Although these endeavors separated us as a whole in this world, we can use our experience to make things better today. This knowledge can help us grow as a society and even make wiser decisions for the future. It can be used not only for global and national issues, but also for something as small as decision making in the work place.
